Marriage

Day long Pre-Cana Retreat Scheduled for November 5, 2023. Please contact the parish office at

814-864-0622 to register.

Marriage is an intimate community of life and love, established by the Creator and endowed by Him with its own proper laws. God, Himself, is the author of marriage. The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the Hand of the Creator.

Couples wishing to get married at Saint George Church are to make arrangements through the parish priest/parish representative at least six months before the Sacrament is to take place. The couple will enter into a Marriage Preparation with the priest, as well as participating in either an Engagement Encounter Weekend, or a Pre-Cana conference. Diocesan Common Policy requires six months advance notification and attendance at Pre-Cana Instruction.  Please contact the parish office to make arrangements.

If couples are completing Pre-Cana outside of the Erie Diocese they will need to provide proper documentation of the completed course to the Priest. Saint George is open to other Priests or Deacons presiding over a marriage but must first seek permission from the Head Pastor of Saint George Church.

For more information please review our Guide to the Sacrament of Matrimony at Saint George Church.

“They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh.
So then what God has united, human beings must not divide.”
